MCU charges an annual membership fee for attending activities and events that the Club organizes. This fee lasts for a year and allows you to participate in an unlimited number of Club activities in that time. It does not cover costs associated with the individual trips such as accommodation, food, transport etc.

The annual membership fee is 50,000 UGX (individual), 100,000 UGX (family – parents and all under 16s) or 20,000 UGX (Ugandan Students).
Membership fees can be paid at the beginning of your first trip, where you will be given your MCU membership card which is valid for one year from the date you receive it. Please keep this card safe as you will need to show it at the beginning of all MCU trips. If you loose your card replacements are charged at 10,000 UGX.
Children under 14 do not have to pay membership fees to come on MCU trips, but they must be accompanied by an adult who is a paid member of the MCU.
Being a member of the MCU also allows you access to the Club equipment on Club trips in case you don’t own your own gear. Using the Club gear is free at Indoor climbing held the first Tuesday of each month at the International School of Uganda (ISU) in Lubowa. Using the Club gear on Club trips anywhere else has a small hire charge.
- Weekend rental of climbing gear (shoes, harness, biner, ATC, ropes, helmet) – 10,000 UGX
- Evening rental of climbing gear (ISU is free) (shoes, harness, biner, ATC, ropes, helmet) – 5,000 UGX
Hiring the Club gear can only be done on official MCU trips, not on personal trips.
