MCU charges an annual membership fee for attending activities and events that the Club organizes. This fee lasts for a year and allows you to participate in an unlimited number of Club activities in that time. It does not cover costs associated with the individual trips such as accommodation, food, transport etc.

The annual membership fee is 50,000 UGX (individual), 100,000 UGX (family – parents and all under 16s) or 20,000 UGX (students with an Ugandan student ID or children under 18).
Membership fees can be paid at the beginning of your first trip, where you will be given your MCU membership card which is valid for one year from the date you receive it. If you lose your card, you can show your membership activation email as proof of membership. The charge to replace a lost card is 10,000 UGX.
Children under 16 at any MCU event must be accompanied by an adult.
Being a member of the MCU also allows you access to the Club equipment on Club trips in case you don’t own your own gear. Climbing gear rental includes shoes, a harness, carabiner, ATC, ropes, chaulk, and a helmet.
- Climbing gear rental at the quarry – 5,000 UGX for members or 15,000 UGX for non-member first-time climbers
- Climbing gear rental at ISU – FREE
- Climbing gear for club trips* – 10,000 UGX
*Hiring the Club gear can only be done on official MCU trips, not on personal trips.
