DESCRIPTION:The Nile River Festival (NRF) is an epic four-day event that celebrates all that is awesome about the River Nile here in Uganda. This is a spectacle for anyone and a great time for all. Inflatable Pink Unicorn. Whatever your chosen Float\, we will group together below the bungee to kick start the weekend’s activities by floating down 5km to Explorers River Camp\, Bujagali.\nBIG AIR RAMP – A trademark event for the Nile River Festival\, the Big Air Ramp competition returns\, for this one spectators will amass along the bank of the Nile River to cheer on the competitors as they slide down the huge Big Air Ramp and fly through the air.\nNILE RIVER EXPLORERS PARTY – After the Big Air Ramp we will head up the stairs to the NRE bar and have a huge party with jelly wrestling\, drinking and dancing !\n\nSATURDAY 28th JANUARY \n\nKAYAK ENDURANCE RACE – Competitors line up in pairs below Bujagali Dam to race over 20km downstream\, portaging Kalagala Falls and passing Adrift River Club and Overland Camp before finally crossing the finish line below Vengeance Rapid. Fastest pair wins !\nARROW RAPID RACES – A brand new spectator and participant friendly event\, the Arrow Rapid Races will pit competitors against each other in heated races. Race classes include: Kayak\, Tandem Kayak\, Extreme Rafting and River Bug (Advanced Tubing).\nADRIFT OVERLAND CAMP PARTY – The Saturday night party is at the new Adrift Overland Camp Bar. This will be a night to remember !!\n\nSUNDAY 29th JANUARY \n\nFREESTYLE KAYAKING EVENT – For the final event of the weekend\, participants will head straight out from Adrift Overland Camp and paddle up to Bubugo Falls. Participants will take turns to strut their stuff on some of our favourite features on the Mighty River Nile\, like: Real Deal Hole\, Real Deal Wave\, Superhole\, Itanda Hole and Phoenix Wave.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Together with Kayak the Nile we are running an MCU Nile River Weekend in Jinja. This is a great opportunity to enjoy Nile water sports for beginners and experts. Sign up here and have lots of fun on the Nile!! \nHere is all you need to know about our kayaking weekends. \nActivities Available: \n\nWhite-water kayaking\nFlat-water kayaking\nStand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)\nSwimming\nTubing\n\nImportant information: \n\nMCU is not organizing any accommodation\, HOWEVER\, we would love to have all MCU members book a room or a camping spot at Nile River Camp so that we can all be together to organize a group dinner and bonfire\nFor all who hold or plan to purchase the 5 lessons bundle (applies usually for min. 4 MCU members)\, this will be possible for only 10 USD extra per person (more information on pricing in the all-you-need-to-know sheet – find the link in the sign-up sheet)\nWe highly encourage everyone who travels together to also stay together in one kayaking group (so kindly check on the level of each other).\nPreventative measures for COVID-19 must be taken seriously. Temperature check on arrival\, sanitize hands on arrival\, masks must be worn (correctly!) when not in the water\, hands should be sanitized or washed regularly\, and social distancing is required (as much as possible). DESCRIPTION:It’s time for another Girls Gone Nile weekend\, which offers us kayaking ladies the chance to improve our skills and push ourselves that little bit harder without the pressure of having the guys around while having an awesome time hanging out with each other. \nWe’ll spend Saturday surfing Superhole\, where we can work on our surfing and rolling skills in a more protected environment. You should have taken at least 3 lessons with KTN and have some basic rolling skills to come to Superhole. \nOn Sunday\, we’ll be doing a river run where we’ll be going down all the big stuff and spend some time at Nile Special at the end. For this you should have done at least one river run before. The ladies that aren’t good enough yet can organise a lesson with KTN on the Sunday. \nWe’ll be camping at the famous Land right by Superhole on Saturday night\, cook our own food and enjoy some drinks around the fire. \nAnyone not into kayaking\, or not quite good enough yet can join us for the social side and enjoy hanging out at the Land. \nIf you dont have your own camping gear\, see whether you can share a tent with someone or post on the MCU facebook page whether you can borrow the equipment. SUMMARY:Rafting trip
DESCRIPTION:“These are no ordinary white water rafting trips. In fact\, it is probably the best two days you’ll ever spend in Uganda. Bucket list material!” \nThe 2 days are filled with rafting action\, swimming\, river boarding\, SUPing\, sun and relaxation. The night is spent in tents on the banks of the river at our private spot on the banks of the Nile. The BBQ dinner is always a winner and the cold beers usually go down well with it! \nItinerary: \nDay 1: \n6.00 -6.30am – Kampala pick up for those who need transport. \n8am – meet at base in Jinja. Sign in. Breakfast. \n8.30 / 8.45am depart Jinja to River. \nDay 1 river section – Overtime to Nalubale Camp (After Itanda Falls). \nWe spend the day rafting and then pull into Superhole – taking lunch with us so we can spend the afternoon surfing.  We’ll give you a body board and fins and our expert crew will teach you the skills to get you surfing and cutting up the waves.  There might even be some SUPs available to play with on Superhole. After finishing the day rafting the Bad Place we’ll pull into camp around 4pm. \n4pm – 7pm.  Pull into camp – set up tents\, we provide snacks and plenty of cold beers – you guys relax while the staff get the food going and light the BBQ. \n7pm. Big BBQ dinner. \nAfter dinner we have our legendary ‘fines meeting’ around the fire before the local women’s group come and sing and dance for us! \nDay 2: \nWe’ll get you going with a big full fry up breakfast and some strong coffee before pushing to into the river and the Rapids of Day 2. \n3 big rapids back to back will get you going before a relaxed float and swim down to Nile Special. \nDepending on water levels we’ll stop at a bunch of different waves along the way and pull out the boards for more surfing. Then we’ll pull into the world famous Hairy Lemon Island for an explore and a beer. \nThe Shuttle will be heading back depending on your preference to Kampala or Jinja around 3pm.  \nKayakers: \nAlthough this is a rafting trip\, experienced kayakers are more than welcome to join the fun. Just one condition\, you need to be signed off by KTN or take a KTN instructor along with you. \n  \nPrices: \n\n$210 if you’re rafting (usually $255\, but Nalubale is offering MCU a great discount)\n$65 if you’re kayaking along\n\nWhat do you need to bring? \nMoney to pay in the morning.  Credit cards are accepted with a 5% surcharge. \nShorts / T-shirt or swimsuit for rafting in – quick-dry is best but not essential.  It is highly advisable to wear leggings or long shorts and a long sleeve shirt especially on Day 1. We will be in the sun and in the water for 4 or 5 hours and the sun is merciless.  If you get sunburnt on day 1 you will not enjoy day 2! DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for all\, any or none of the the Trifecta activities: Climbing\, Cycling and Kayaking this weekend! \n\nWe’ll be leaving Kampala early in the morning to go climbing in Kalagi for a couple of hours\, then we’ll cycle to the Hairy Lemon (about 50km) and go for a quick kayaking session on Nile Special in the evening. \n\nOn Sunday we’ll probably go on a river run or just chill at the Lemon\, before we drive back to Kampala late afternoon. \n\nNo need to do everything. For example you could just come for the climbing\, drive to the Hairy Lemon and then chill there. DESCRIPTION:The long awaited Hairy Lemon weekend is back. So get ready for the social highlight in MCU’s calendar with a Lemon Sports Pentathlon organised for Sunday.  \nFor the kayakers the Hairy Lemon weekend offers the great opportunity to explore a different part of the river and run some new rapids. Kayak the Nile will be offering discounted kayaking lessons for beginners to advanced kayakers. For more details and sign-up click here to sign-up. \nNon-kayakers are more than welcome to join – judging from last time there were definitely more people just enjoying a chilled out weekend than kayaking.\nAs the Hairy Lemon is an island\, it is vital that you book accommodation and please note that the usual shuttle service is not available for Hairy Lemon weekends. \nFor the Lemon Pentathlon\, we’ll get as many people as possible together\, divide them into random teams (great chance to make some new friends)\, and have them compete in the classic Lemon games like volleyball\, lemon twister\, frisbee golf\, viking chess\, etc. Teams will rotate and compete against one another for the highest score. There’ll be a big scoreboard\, points for the best dressed team\, a potential showdown between the runner-ups\, anything we can think of really. DESCRIPTION:For the third time\, ladies in Uganda are taking over the Nile! The weekend will be about female paddlers supporting each other on and off the river and is a good chance for women to learn from one another while enjoying all the Nile has to offer. The event is open to all skill levels. Non-kayaking ladies are welcome to come hang out but if you learned on the Nile you must have done at least 3 lessons with Kayak the Nile to paddle. Note\, this is not an official lesson with professional instructors\, this is more of a casual gathering for women to get together to share and build experience and push each other in a encouraging environment. Fill in the Google Form to sign up! \n \nGirls Gone Nile 2016 from Shannon Orcutt on Vimeo. \nThe only costs involved are if you need to rent kayaking equipment and we’ll split the price of transport. You should bring your own lunch for both days and we will be doing dinner and breakfast potluck style. \nSATURDAY FEBRUARY 11 \nWe will meet at Kayak the Nile in Bujagali at 10AM drive to Jenny and Charlie’s land at Superhole. We’ll do a brief Superhole session then the intermediate/ advanced group paddle down to Nile Special. We’ll be cooking out\, camping\, and living it up at the land. \nSUNDAY FEBRUARY 12 \nWe’ll make a quick breakfast then head out to the river likely splitting into a beginner and more advanced groups to practice skills and surfing around Superhole.
