SUMMARY:MCU Lake Mburo weekend
DESCRIPTION:MCU will be heading to Lake Mburo for the weekend to enjoy a variety of activities – cycling\, rock climbing\, running\, walking\, Safari drives… \nActivities: \nThere’ll be different cycles organised for various abilities on Saturday and Sunday. Lake Mburo is known for its wildlife\, so get ready to cycle past zebras\, giraffes and buffalo. You can rent a bike from Rwakobo Rock if you don’t have your own (or from Red Dirt if Rwakobo Rock runs out). Please arrange this yourself. \nFor the more adventurous people there’ll be Leopards Rock to explore for climbing. It hasn’t been climbed for a few years but people that have rave about it. So this would be a great chance to check it out. \nThere’ll be other activities of offer\, such as game drives or community walks but they may incur a fee. \nAccommodation: \nYou’ll need to book your own accommodation! \nOur base will be Rwakobo Rock (www.rwakoborock.com)\, where you can stay in safari tents\, rooms or cottages. Accommodation is full-board. MCU members gets a 10% if you show your membership card. \nIf you prefer to camp\, Leopards Rest Camp (www.leopardrestcamp.com) is just down the hill from Rwakobo Rock and offers cheaper camping options. \nMeals: \nWe’ll be having meals together at Rwakobo Rock which will be putting on some amazing 3-course buffets for us. Walk-in meals will be $8 instead of the usual $12 for the peeps staying at Leopards Camp. \nTransport: \nMCU is not organising transport\, but there should be plenty of people driving to Lake Mburo. DESCRIPTION:This weekend we have a group of MCU members up at Sipi Falls to hike\, climb\, camp\, and go on coffee tours! Many of us will stay at the Crow’s Nest\, which is the cheapest lodging option available. I suggest departure very early Saturday (6am) with climbing and lunch in Mbale\, then climbing Saturday later that afternoon in Sipi Falls on the main wall (below Moses’ camp). Sunday morning we’ll be climbing in the new wall and return to Kampala in the afternoon.\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email Hugo.\n\nHugo will already be in Sipi with Battani\, but people are free to join. The more the merrier!

DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for all\, any or none of the the Trifecta activities: Climbing\, Cycling and Kayaking this weekend! \n\nWe’ll be leaving Kampala early in the morning to go climbing in Kalagi for a couple of hours\, then we’ll cycle to the Hairy Lemon (about 50km) and go for a quick kayaking session on Nile Special in the evening. \n\nOn Sunday we’ll probably go on a river run or just chill at the Lemon\, before we drive back to Kampala late afternoon. \n\nNo need to do everything. For example you could just come for the climbing\, drive to the Hairy Lemon and then chill there. If you do not own any climbing equipment the Club has equipment there that you can rent for 5\,000 UGX. Please bring sports clothes and some water. Climbers usually go for some food and beers nearby at Caffe Roma\, where members get a 15% discount. \nIf you’re not a member\, you can sign up during the event. Memberships cost 50\,000 UGX for 1 year and 20\,000 UGX for Ugandan students. \nDirections \nDrive down tank hill road\, past Caffe Roma. DESCRIPTION:We are now REALLY ready to host the launch party for climbing the Quarry in Muyenga 🙂  \nThe Mountain Club Of Uganda has spent many hours cleaning the rock and setting up climbing routes for all members to enjoy 🙂\nAll the routes have been set up for top-rope climbing\, and routes are of various levels of difficulty\, to cater for all levels of ability. \nNon-MCU members and children are more than welcome to join the Quarry launch event. \nThere will be the opportunity to climb at the launch event\, whether you are an experienced climber or have never climbed before. We’ll have special climbing games for the kids or still behaving like one. There’ll also be a competition to name the routes.\nWear comfortable/sports clothes for the climbing and if you have bring a cycling or kayaking helmet in case any pebbles or small rocks come down the wall. \nIf climbing is not your thing\, there’ll be plenty of other outdoor games from Viking Chess\, Slackline to Badminton to keep you occupied. Feel free to bring your own lane games along. \nWe’ll also be providing a paid BBQ and a cash bar for when you need to refuel. If you have bring a picnic rug. \nWe’ll be heading over to Cafe Roma once it gets dark\, so come and join us for a few drinks there. \nDisclaimer: If it rains\, bad luck and we’ll have to cancel the event again. Climbing is an outdoor sport and is not safe on wet and slippy rock.
