SUMMARY:Kyaninga Triathlon/Duathlon
DESCRIPTION:The next Kyaninga Triathlon will be held on Saturday May 23rd 2020. This has become one of the most popular events in the Uganda sporting calendar\, and for good reason!!! Where else can you swim in a beautiful crater lake\, cycle around the local villages with children cheering you on and then run around a crater rim\, with the stunning Rwenzori mountains as a backdrop? Sprint distance (750m/17km/5km) and Olympic distance (1500m/34km/10km) are available as individual and team events. \nSwimming not your thing?? Well now you don’t have to miss out\, do the Duathlon instead. This involves running the crater rim instead of swimming\, and then join the rest of the field in the cycle and the run. SUMMARY:Ride the Rift
DESCRIPTION:If speed and adrenaline are what you are looking for then we have just the thing for you!!! Cycle 100km through the Albertine Rift Valley and Semiliki Wildlife reserve from Kyaninga Lodge to Lake Albert\, on our downhill course\, or take on the beast course and cycle back to Kyaninga Lodge on our 200km course. Both races take place on December 7th\, 2019 and involve local trails and tarmac roads and covers a vertical kilometre – with Kyaninga Lodge sitting at 1685m above sea level and Lake Albert at just 615m above sea level. Whichever direction you choose to do\, it will be an amazing ride. Afternoon prizegiving and evening entertainment is open to all. SUMMARY:Running the Rift Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Described to be ‘as brutal as it is beautiful’ this is a truly stunning route. The views down into the Rift Valley and through to Congo make it all worth while. The date for the next marathon is November 23rd 2019\, when once again you can take on the 42km/21km and 10km distances. There is also a 5km fun run so all the family can be involved. DESCRIPTION:We hold outdoor climbing at 4:00-7:00pm at the MCU Quarry in Muyenga. \n\n\nAt the quarry you will find a range of routes from beginner to more advanced. If you do not own climbing equipment (ropes\, harness\, belay device\, helmet) the Club provides equipment that you can rent for 5\,000UGX. Please bring sports clothes\, water\, and some collateral for rental equipment. \nClimbers usually go for some food and beers at Cafe Roma after climbing. \nThe cost is free for members. Memberships cost 50\,000UGX for 1 year and 20\,000 for Ugandan students. New members can register at the event. \nDirections: From Tank Hill Road head toward Bukasa Road. Turn left onto Kalungi Road. DESCRIPTION:This weekend\, the MCU is headed to Jinja and the White Nile River for discounted group lessons with the stellar team at Kayak The Nile.\n\n\nPaddlers of all levels — especially beginners — are welcome. It’s always a fun weekend out of the big city! For more info\, including MCU discounts\, and anything else you might need to know\, sign up here.\n\n\n\nNon-kayakers are more than welcome to come and enjoy a chilled out weekend with MCU. There are plenty of non-kayaking options like swimming\, stand-up paddle boarding\, and more!\n\n\nBe sure to book accommodation with Nile River Explorers or Nile River Camp directly. Camping is available in addition to dorm rooms and safari tents.\n\nFor transport options\, it is possible to sign up for the NRE Shuttle\, but post to our Facebook page and we’ll hep you find a ride!
