DESCRIPTION:The Historical walk is back! \n\nLegend has it that Kampala\, like Rome\, is a city that was built on seven hills. The city derives its name Kampala for the Luganda work “Kasozi ka Mpala” which means a Hill of many Impala. The Kampala of today comprises of 21 hills\, but a walk through the 7 Hills will give you the opportunity to explore the genesis of the present day city.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 7 hills are; Nsambya\, Kibuli\, Nakasero\, Old Kampala\, Namirembe\, Lubaga\, Lubiri. A route between the hills along paths and feeder road takes approx 5-6 hours.\n\n\nThe walk will be led by Deo Lubega. The start and finish point will be the Moonland Gardens on Nsambya-Gaba Road (a safe place to park with a small charge). Our wooden boat is made from timber from The Mvule tree (which is commonly found in Uganda). This hardwood timber was used to make the keel and the supporting frame of this boat as it is strong and durable. The hull of the boat is made from the Makebu tree which is found in Sothern Sudan and Congo. It is a strong but lighter hardwood. It is used as it has a long life span especially when submerged in water. DESCRIPTION:  \nTo all climbers and outdoor enthousiasts out there: We are holding the first ROCK CLIMBING FESTIVAL!!! \nThe event will take place on the 15th of September 2018 from 2PM at the MCU Muyenga Quarry and is designed for the whole family\, for seasoned climbers and for curious active people as well. \nClimbing gear will be available on site (5000 Ugx for MCU members and 15000 Ugx for non-members). \n  \nWe propose climbing skills clinics: \n\nclimbing safety\nbelaying techniques\n\n  \nFor the climbing-timid out there\, we will have team games available at the quarry site like volleyball\, viking chess\, slackline\, frisbee\, badminton\, football. \n  \nFood wise we will have tasty samosas and delicious cakes for purchase provided by Refuge and Hope International. DESCRIPTION:This weekend\, the MCU is headed to Jinja and the White Nile River for discounted group lessons with the stellar team at Kayak The Nile.\n\n\nPaddlers of all levels — especially beginners — are welcome. It’s always a fun weekend out of the big city! For more info\, including MCU discounts\, and anything else you might need to know\, sign up here.\n\n\n\nNon-kayakers are more than welcome to come and enjoy a chilled out weekend with MCU. There are plenty of non-kayaking options like swimming\, stand-up paddle boarding\, and more!\n\n\nBe sure to book accommodation with Nile River Explorers or Nile River Camp directly. Camping is available in addition to dorm rooms and safari tents.\n\nFor transport options\, it is possible to sign up for the NRE Shuttle\, but post to our Facebook page and we’ll hep you find a ride!
