DESCRIPTION:It’s time for another Girls Gone Nile weekend\, which offers us kayaking ladies the chance to improve our skills and push ourselves that little bit harder without the pressure of having the guys around while having an awesome time hanging out with each other. \nWe’ll spend Saturday surfing Superhole\, where we can work on our surfing and rolling skills in a more protected environment. You should have taken at least 3 lessons with KTN and have some basic rolling skills to come to Superhole. \nOn Sunday\, we’ll be doing a river run where we’ll be going down all the big stuff and spend some time at Nile Special at the end. For this you should have done at least one river run before. The ladies that aren’t good enough yet can organise a lesson with KTN on the Sunday. \nWe’ll be camping at the famous Land right by Superhole on Saturday night\, cook our own food and enjoy some drinks around the fire. \nAnyone not into kayaking\, or not quite good enough yet can join us for the social side and enjoy hanging out at the Land. \nIf you dont have your own camping gear\, see whether you can share a tent with someone or post on the MCU facebook page whether you can borrow the equipment. DESCRIPTION:Legend has it that Kampala\, like Rome\, is a city that was built on seven hills. The city derives its name Kampala for the Luganda word “Kasozi ka Mpala” which means a Hill of many Impala. \nThe Kampala of today comprises of 21 hills\, but a walk through the 7 Hills will give you the opportunity to explore the genesis of the present day city. \n \nThe walk will start on the 8th of March at 8AM at Moonland Gardens on Nsambya-Gaba Road (lots of parking spots available for a small fee). Please arrive around 7.45AM\, as the party will depart at 8AM sharp. \nThis event is a big hit every year! The walk will be led by MCU Patron and Advisory Board Member\, Mr Deo Lubega. DESCRIPTION:We hold indoor climbing every Tuesday evening at 7-9pm at the International School of Uganda (ISU) in Lubowa. A range of different routes from beginner to more advanced. If you do not own any climbing equipment the Club has equipment there that you can borrow. Please bring sports clothes and some water. Climbers usually go for some food and beers nearby after climbing. The cost is free for members. Memberships cost 50\,000UGX for 1 year and 20\,000 for Ugandan students.

DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re competing or spectating\, the festival is one not to be missed!\n\nThe Nile River Festival is a four-day event that makes the most of some of the biggest rapids in the world and celebrates all that is awesome about the River Nile\, here in Uganda.\n\nEvery year\, the NRF draws some of the best athletes from around the world to compete for the overall champion’s title.\n\nThe four events are:\n\nThursday: Big Air Ramp & Mystery SUP Event – Competitors launch themselves off NRE’s ramp and try to throw massive moves to impress the crowds & judges. SUP event TBC.\nFriday: Extreme Endurance Race – A 35km race down big grade 5 white water\, you’ll feel it on Saturday…\nSaturday: Nile Special Freestyle & SUP X Race – The greatest show on earth\, well we think so\, see some huge moves from the world’s best kayakers. SUMMARY:Rwenzori 2018
DESCRIPTION:Part II of the Pan-Africa Meet will attempt four of the main seven Rwenzori mountains with a group of experienced alpinists.  The ten day trek will begin early on January 25th.  By day four we should summit Wiesmann and Sella Peaks\, the two highest peaks of Mount Luigi di Savoia.  On day five\, we will attempt Edward Peak on Mount Baker\, the third highest and most technical of all the Rwenzori.  On day seven\, we will aim for Margherita Peak on Mount Stanley\, the highest and most famous in the range.  The following day\, we will attempt the second highest mountain\, Vittorio Emmanuel Peak on Mount Speke.  By day ten\, we should be back at the trailhead for a much needed shower and transport back to Kampala.  Participants pay Rwenzori Trekking Service for guides\, porters\, food\, equipment\, and huts.  Everyone must also pay entrance to Rwenzori Mountain National Park. \nThis event is full and waitlisted.  If you’d like to be added to the list\, contact Matt Battani.

SUMMARY:Karamoja Triangle 2018
DESCRIPTION:Part I of the Pan-Africa Meet will trek three of Karamoja’s most beautiful and unspoilt mountains\, Moroto\, Kadam\, and Napak.  Trekkers are coming from six African countries to enjoy some of the best free trekking Uganda has to offer.  It should be a great time with mountain enthusiasts from all over this amazing continent!  There is room for a couple MCU participants\, so contact Matt and Charles if you’d like to join.  Members will pay for their own transport and food.  Everyone must bring their own hiking and camping equipment.  A small fee will be paid to local guides and all hikers will pay a share of that cost.  Overall\, this should be cheaper than a week in Kampala.

SUMMARY:Tuesday Night Climbing
DESCRIPTION:We hold indoor climbing every Tuesday evening at 7-9pm at the International School of Uganda (ISU) in Lubowa. A range of different routes from beginner to more advanced. If you do not own any climbing equipment the Club has equipment there that you can borrow. Please bring sports clothes and some water. Climbers usually go for some food and beers nearby after climbing. The cost is free for members. Memberships cost 50\,000UGX for 1 year and 20\,000 for Ugandan students.
