SUMMARY:2nd Annual Girls Gone Nile
DESCRIPTION:For the second time\, ladies in Uganda are taking over the Nile! The weekend will be about female paddlers supporting each other on and off the river and is a good chance for women to learn from one another while enjoying all the Nile has to offer. The event is open to all skill levels. Non-kayaking ladies are welcome to come hang out but if you learned on the Nile you must have done at least 3 lessons with Kayak the Nile to paddle. Note\, this is not an official lesson with professional instructors\, this is more of a casual gathering for women to get together to share and build experience and push each other in an encouraging environment. \nThe only costs involved are if you need to rent kayaking equipment and we’ll split the price of transport. You should bring your own lunch for both days and we will be doing dinner and breakfast potluck style. \nSATURDAY APRIL 30 \nWe will meet at Kayak the Nile in Bujagali at 10AM drive to Jenny and Charlie’s land at Superhole. We’ll do a brief Superhole session then the intermediate/ advanced group paddle down to Nile Special. We’ll be cooking out\, camping\, and living it up at the land. \nSUNDAY MAY 1 \nWe’ll make a quick breakfast then head out to the river likely splitting into a beginner and more advanced groups to practice skills and surfing around Superhole. SUMMARY:Luwazi Overnight Rock Climbing
DESCRIPTION:The MCU is running another overnight climbing/camping trip to Luwazi. We will meet on Saturday at the Oasis Mall around 7am and climb most of Saturday.  In the afternoon/evening\, we will setup camp and cook on the top.  Climbing again on Sunday. \nLuwazi Rock is a rock roughly 45mins drive from Kampala where the Club climbs regularly. The rock has a number of different sport routes of varying abilities. If you do not have your own climbing gear then gear can be rented from the Club for the trip. DESCRIPTION:The next MCU climbing trip to Hell’s Gate National Park is taking place from March 27th to 30th. The plan is to drive to Nairobi on the 27th and then climb for 2-3 days. Hell’s Gate is an incredible place to climb near Lake Naivasha in Kenya with tons of routes at various levels of difficulty. It is especially good for crack and trad climbing.

SUMMARY:Easter Break Mt. Elgon Hike
DESCRIPTION:We are planning a trip to hike Mount Elgon  (Wagagai peak: 4\,321m) over the long Easter weekend. This is a multi-day camping trip that takes up the beautiful Sasa trail in Mount Elgon National Park (MENP). It is a backpacking trip and each participant will need to bring all of their own tent/gear/food.  This trip is for reasonably fit hikers since we are taking the faster route (3 days\, 2 nights). SUMMARY:Nyiragongo Active Volcano Hike in the DRC
DESCRIPTION:There is a group organized to trek Mt. Nyiragongo and camp at the top near the active lava lake.  We have been able to negotiate a discounted trekking permit of $270 (usually $300) with Virunga National Park for this trip.  We will depart Gisenyi\, Rwanda\, on the morning of the 19th\, have organized transport across the DRC border to the start of the hike\, and organized transport back to Goma\, DRC after the hike.  Additionally\, we have organized for arrangement of DRC Visas\, hot meals for dinner and breakfast\, packed lunches\, porters\, and sleeping bags (if you need one) with Okapi Tours.  This is $175 ($170 if you have your own sleeping bag) per person\, in addition the $270 trekking permit.
