Relaxed Boat Ride

October 6, 2018

Life is short boats are cool. Try a new Adventure on the Mvule boat 🙂

Experience Lake Victoria in a unique and magical way. The Mvule Boat is a magnificent 50 ft wooden boat that will take you on an unforgettable adventure; in luxury and style! Your journey will embark from Jinja (Uganda) where you will step on board the vessel and get comfortable for your day of exploration ahead. We will serve you tea and coffee in the morning plus fresh snacks on the first leg of your journey. Our fully stocked bar has ice cold drinks on offer so you can sit back, sip on a drink, relax and take in the beautiful scenery.

You will encounter huge jagged rock cliffs, lush forests and untouched islands. You will also be able to get a glimpse into the local culture of the people who live in these remote fishing villages. There is a huge variety of birds on Lake Victoria. We provide a set of binoculars and bird identification books for your use. We will often see large monitor lizards, monkeys and if you are lucky, a family of fresh water otters! Our destination is a breathtaking rainforest that overhangs the lake shoreline. This rainforest really shows off the beauty that Uganda has on offer!

We find the perfect spot and moor up the boat so you can jump in and go for a refreshing swim or have a go at paddling one of our Canadian canoes. We slowly cruise alongside the rainforest as we prepare your lunch. Our lunch is a pretty unique experience in itself. You get to choose your own ingredients and mix and match them with different sauces. We will then cook your food in front of you whilst floating on Lake Victoria. After a full day of adventure you can enjoy the fresh fruit, biscuits, tea and coffee we serve on your journey back to Jinja.

Make sure to take your cameras!

The Name:

The Mvule Boat is the name of our company. Our wooden boat is made from timber from The Mvule tree (which is commonly found in Uganda). This hardwood timber was used to make the keel and the supporting frame of this boat as it is strong and durable. The hull of the boat is made from the Makebu tree which is found in Sothern Sudan and Congo. It is a strong but lighter hardwood. It is used as it has a long life span especially when submerged in water. This beautiful boat is named Kaya, in tribute to a very good friend and beautiful person who sailed away to a new adventure, on the undiscovered shores of the sky.
